This two-story A-Frame chalet is the very first of its kind, built by entrepreneurs Orville and Izzy Slutzky, absolute legends in the American Ski Industry and the original owners of what would eventually become the Hunter Mountain Resort. This unique home is a mere 500 steps from Orville and Izzy’s historic ski lodge, constructed in 1964. Hunter’s ski area, widely known as the Snowmaking Capital of the World, was the first place to have top-to-bottom snowmaking.

This historical gem is perfectly preserved and situated in an ideal location to experience all that Hunter and the surrounding area has to offer. When your day on the mountain draws to a close, come home to a cozy bluestone fire pit and roast a few delicious s’mores under the sparkling Catskill sky! The infrared sauna is the perfect place to rest and relax after a fun-filled day exploring the area!

On the ground level, there is one bedroom with a queen-size bed with its own door to the yard outside, a quaint living room with a full-size, original L-shaped couch, 60’s style decorative accents, a record player, cable TV, a fine wooden dining table, and a lovely view of the surrounding forest. The fully-equipped kitchen is well-stocked with tasty spices and every cooking implement you could ever desire to create your perfect meal with plenty of bar glasses for your afternoon cocktails. There is also a full bathroom, shower, and infrared sauna. The hand-laid bluestone deck features an outdoor charcoal BBQ grill, Adirondack chairs, a fire pit, and a picnic table.

The loft features a full-size bed and a fantastic view of the surrounding natural landscape. The stairs to the loft have a low clearance, so it is recommended that they be descended by going down backward so as not to bump your head.

Countless recreational activities await you! Dolan’s Lake, our local swimming spot, is a lovely place to visit during your stay. A serene park with picnic tables, a basketball court, a wondrous nature path, and beautiful mountain views. This Catskills gem is only a 5-minute walk from the house!

North-South Lake is a majestic state park perched within the Catskill Forest Preserve. There you will find captivating scenic beauty and several notable historical sites. Miles of well-marked and maintained trails are all accessible and filled with indigenous flora and fauna everywhere you look! There is a large lake for swimming, but canoes, kayaks, and paddle boats are also available to rent.

Our crowning jewel, Kaaterskill Falls, is the highest cascading waterfall in New York State, dropping in two tiers over 260 feet! The Falls have been one of the region’s most popular destinations for centuries. This unique vision of natural beauty is only nine short miles from your doorstep!

There is a mini-split for air conditioning that can also serve as
supplemental heat.
